Seminar on STEM subject didactics in New York

On February 19th, we were guests at La Scuola d’Italia Guglielmo Marconi in New York for a seminar on STEM subject didactics organized by Professor Francesco D’Anna, a Mathematics and Physics teacher with a MAECI appointment and over 30 years of teaching and educational experience. La Scuola d’Italia, which is legally recognized by the Italian State, was chosen as the only non-Italian school for the HOP – Hands-On Physics project, a laboratory-based physics education project designed for lower secondary schools.
HOP, for which Level Up is the developer and producer, was conceived and funded by CERN (the European Laboratory for Particle Physics in Geneva), the Agnelli Foundation, and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN). In October 2024, Professor D’Anna and the IB Coordinator Aline Kazitoris from La Scuola D’Italia participated in the training day on laboratory physics education, which took place in Turin.
Our participation in the seminar gave us the opportunity to present the educational kit we developed for the HOP project, combining the ideas of the CERN team with our expertise in designing experiments and producing the materials needed to carry out the activities.
On the same occasion, we were able to introduce our AnReAL software, which uniquely and innovatively allows users to perform physics laboratory activities in augmented reality through the use of viewers.
The seminar participants included, among others, the school principal Dr. Michael Cascianelli, the IB Coordinator Aline Kazitoris, and the Science and Technology teachers Andrea Minardi and Riccardo Catalano.
